International Youth Festival - 6, New Delhi, India - December 2011 Kalpana Image Archives - Dancers and dances from the world
In December 2011, I was in Delhi and one evening I had the opportunity to see the International Youth Festival in the circular central park of Connaught Place in New Delhi. This park stands over the Rajeev Chowk station of Delhi metro. Different youth groups representing schools and non-governmental organisations took part in the festival, with beautiful costumes and wonderful dances and music.
The images on this page are of dance show by students of Sadhu Vaswani International school of Delhi. The show started with with an all girl orchestra and had short pieces of different dances including contemporary, Bhangra, Kathak and Odissi and concluded with an elaborate choreography around the Indian flag.
The different colours of lights, artificial fog and the movements of the dancers have created images that look like paintings. I like these pictures very much.
If any of the schools or groups or persons shown in these images would like to receive any of these images (free of cost) in a larger format, please write to me at sunil(at)kalpana.it
