Plants and Flowers Image Archives of Kalpana From different parts of the world
I love clicking pictures of flowers and plants even though often I don't know their names. Images on this page come from different countries of Asia, Africa and Europe.
The images may be grouped under flower or plant names or more often, they are grouped accordig to the colours of the flowers. Under each group of images there are groups
of thumbnails. Click on any thumbnail in a group to open the page with
bigger images of that group of pictures.

Flowers in shades of red

Plants and Trees
Here are some images of trees and plants, many of which provide us with fruits, vegetables, spices and lentils. These include coffee plant, tapioca, turmeric, toor (arhar)
lentils, ladies fingers (bhindi), red pepper, nutmeg, papaya, banana, tamarind, etc. Click on any thumbnail below to open the page with bigger images of this
group of pictures.
White flowers
Here are some white flowers including iris, margerita, daisy, horse chestnut, roses, etc. To be honest, I am not very fond of white flowers. They are supposed
to be used for marriages, but for me somehow they seem sad, they make me think of death. I mean, flower is almost synonimous of colour and if the flower does not have
any colour, it is not a real flower. What do you think? I bet, you don't agree with me. Click on any thumbnail below to open the page with bigger images of this

Blue, Purple and Violet

Not quite red
Here are some flowers with a touch of red in them. The shades vary from orange, to magenta to salmon pink. Some are more yellow than red. Click on any thumbnail

Yellow flowers for Hope and Sunshine
In India, yellow is called the colour of spring. As spring arrives and people get ready to play Holi, the festival of colours, fields are covered by a sea of
yellow mustard folowers. Yellow is also the colour of hope and optimism. Here is a selection of yellow coloured flowers from different countries of the world that
include mimosa, tulips, marigold, iris, etc. Click on any thumbnail below to open the page with bigger images of this group of pictures.
Roses are red my love
Do you remember the song, "Roses are red my love, violets are blue"? I loved this song as a child but then I used to ask my self, why violets were not violet and
were blue? Any way, roses are not just red, they can be of different colours and shades. However, my faviourite is the dark red, almost brown, coloured rose. Click on

Red Poppy flowers
Have you read the book "Sea of Poppies" by Indian author Amitav Ghosh? He is one of my favourite writers. In that book he mentions white poppy flowers, used for
making opium. However, all the images on this page are of red poppies and were clicked near our house in Bologna (Italy). Click on any thumbnail below to open the
