Shravana Belagola Karnataka Image Archives Kalpana Image Archives - India

Shravan Belgol is a pilgrimage site for Jain religion. It celebrates Bhagwan Bahubali, also called Gomateshwar, who mediated for many years, till trees surrounded his body and birds made their nest. The climb to the top of the hill is steep and tiring, but the tall statue (57 feet) is worth the effort.
