Italy, San Marino and Vatican city Image Archives of Kalpana
Welcome to Italy, San Marino and Vatican city Image archives of Kalpana. I live in Bologna and thus, I had many more opportunities to click images in Bologna. For this reason,
the Bologna images are on a separate page. This page presents the part 2 of my remaining images from Italy including Rome and Milan, but also
some lesser known small cities such as Riccione, Dozza, etc. Images are grouped according to the regions. Under each group there are groups of
thumbnails of images. It also includes images of San Marino and Vatican city, both are actually independent countries even if geographically they are inside Italy.
Click on any thumbnail in a group to open the page with bigger images of that group of pictures.

Emilia Romagna Region and San Marino Images Mirabiliandia, Dozza, Ferrara, Imola, Lugo, Rimini, San Giovanni in Persicetto
Dozza
Dozza is a tiny town about 20 km to the east of Bologna. It is a medieval town with a nice castel and the regional Enoteca (wine selling centre). However,
its most distinctive feature is an art event when painters and sculptors are invited to make art on the house walls of the walled city centre. Thus, the city is
an open air, free and permanent art exhibition. If you are in Bologna, make sure to visit this charming little town. Click on any thumbnail below to open the

A town like Ferrara represents the best of Italy - a beautiful medieval town with arches and narrow cobbled streets, relaxed roadside caffes, wonderful
opportunities for experiences of art and culture. Ferrara is a Unesco world heritage city. It is well known for a rich calender of cultural events including
the colourful annual buskers' festival of street music, dance and entertainment. Selecting a few images from my archive of hundreds of images clicked between
2005 to 2009, was very tough. Click on any thumbnail below to open the

Marzabotto
Marzabotto is a small town in the foothills of Apenine mountains, about 20 km to the south of Bologna. Close to the town, ruins of a pre-roman Ethruscan
town (acropolis) with a connected necropolis (cemetry) were discovered here in early twentieth century. An Ethruscan museum has been built there. Close by is also Monte Sole (literally Sun Mountain),
where in 1944, the German troups had vindicated a Partisan attack by killing the whole village, including women and children. Ruins of churches and houses
bear witness to that massacre. Click on any thumbnail below to open the

Rome (1)
Rome, the eternal city, does not need any introduction. If you love history, archeology, myths, legends, Rome is the city for you. They say, if you kick any
stone in Rome, chances are you will be hitting something of great historical value that will find a place in a museum in another city. Between 2005 till now, ever since
I started clicking pictures with a digital camera, every time I go to Rome, I focus on one area. Every time, I keep on discovering new places. Selecting images
from my archives of thousands of images has a bit arbitrary, but then I would need a separate website only for my Rome images. Click on any thumbnail below to open the
page with bigger images of this group of pictures.
The images presented in this first group are mainly from central part of Rome, that goes around Spanish steps to Trevi fountain, to Quirinale where the
President lives, to Altar of the Fatherland and the Piazza della Repubblica.

Bracciano and Viterbo are to the north and east of Rome, going towards Orvieto. This is an area of lakes of volcanic origin and Bracciano sits on the shores of
a beautiful lake. Bracciano became famous a couple of years ago when Tom Cruise decided to get married to Katie Holmes, in the castle of this city. Viterbo is a
more ancient town, known for its roman buildings and for having been the residence of Pope during a period of turbulence.
